How to measure an irregular area on the map
- Find the place. Type an address or place name in the search box, then zoom in until the edges you want to measure are clear.
- Trace it. Click Draw Area, click each corner of the boundary, then click the first corner again to close it. Use Draw Radius for circles and Draw Line for distances such as fence runs.

How accurate is it?
Shapes drawn on the map are measured with spherical geometry on the Earth's surface, so the math holds from a backyard to a county. In practice, accuracy depends on how precisely you trace: on clear imagery a careful outline typically lands within a few percent of a surveyed figure. These are planning estimates, not a legal survey.
